After Joseph and his brothers, and their generation died, the children of Israel multiplied in great numbers. This became a threat to the new king of Egypt. The new king of Egypt did not know Joseph and the story of the children of Israel. Just as God Almighty had foretold to Abraham, the children of Israel suffered slavery for more than four hundred years. Slavery eventually became oppression and in midst of that, children of God multiplied and increased abundantly. The new King of Egypt got concerned about this tremendous growth of Israelites and he came up with shrewd plans. He assigned taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. But the more they were afflicted, the more they multiplied. None of the rigorous tactics of the Egyptians controlled the growth of the children of God.

So the wicked king of Egypt came up with a wicked plan. He spoke to the Hebrew midwives - Shiphrah and Puah. While attending the childbirth for the Hebrew women, if the child born was male, he asked them to kill the child. But if the child was a girl, he asked them to let her live. But as these Hebrew women feared God, they did not yield to the king's wicked plan. They saved the male and female children of the Hebrew women. The frustrated king asked the midwives why they had been saving the male children. The midwives boldly replied that the Hebrew women were not like the Egyptian women and they gave birth even before the midwives got to them. Because of this act of kindness and faithfulness towards God's children, God's favor was upon these midwives. The Lord blessed them with households.

There is always the choice of being part of God’s plan for His children or standing against His children. Just a month back, I had gone to India to take care of my dad who was comatose. After living in the US for a couple of decades, and returning to my home country in a situation like this, I had to handle these tough situations standing alone. It was just me and Jesus together in this valley. As you can imagine the emotions and the decisions I had to handle standing alongside my Jesus. And Jesus graciously sent me two people who helped me and supported me above and beyond. God showed tremendous grace to my dad and took him to heaven. These two people who once were strangers to me have become my friends now for whom I diligently pray every day for God to show them favor in return for the act of kindness that they did to me.

I found your third paragraph, where you told of your trip to India, very interesting, while your first two paragraphs retold the well-known story of the Hebrews in Egypt. When writing similar articles you could consider starting with your personal experiences and using the Biblical references to support your personal experiences. Your own experiences are always interesting to others.
