Last year my mom went to be with the LORD. On the day after her first anniversary, my dad had dizziness as he was sitting on the bed. He was admitted in the hospital right away and was diagnosed with a hip fracture which led to a hip surgery. Though the surgery went through successfully, in couple hours a clot had moved to the brain and affected his response system.
My dad knows the LORD, served Him in various ways like giving tracts on the road and serving as part of ministries and such. He also has another face. He lived a very sinful life and held on to so much of anger and bitterness towards his siblings and my mom’s siblings and had a mouth that lavishly spoke very filthy words.
When my mom passed away, things turned for the worst. All his care givers had only complaints about him. And every conversation I had with him ended up with anger. As the problems started worsening, in the mid of last year, I decided to pray by waking up in the morning for him. One morning, God put in my heart, “No one in the history has been ever changed because someone got angry at them. Love changes people, but not anger”. I instantly felt that was right and asked God to help me get rid of my anger. So amazingly, I felt something heavy leave me. From that day on, I never got angry at my dad. When he asked me about it, I told him that I will do only what Jesus wants me to do and hence I won’t get angry at him anymore. Amazingly, I started noticing changes in his behavior. In the last few weeks, he started blessing me in every conversation and mentioning “God” too.
I had been praying earnestly for him since my mom went to be with the LORD. Least did I
Know that In exactly a year, he was going to be in this stage of life.
My mom said the words,” I am going to Jesus”. But as my dad was already in coma when I came to see him, I didn’t know if he got everything right with God. In the coming days, God led me towards reading the Word for him and praying for him and also God gave me some particular words to tell my dad to get my relationship right with him. God changed my heart so much that I don’t even have a drop of anger at him anymore. I told in his ear that even I didn’t know that I did love him much after all. Also God gave me such good assurance of peace in my heart on the day before his ventilator was being removed. God miraculously sent a person with whom he worked in a ministry to come and pray for him who shared some good words about my dad. I am holding on to all these happenings as an assurance that God has forgiven and cleansed my dad and has covered him with His robe of righteousness.
1 John 1:7 NKJV The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
Aren’t we grateful for the blood of Jesus that has the ability to forgive us from all of our sins? Whatever we do for the LORD, He keeps that in His account and He is not a debtor to anyone. I am grateful to this God who chose to redeem my dad by putting in my heart to pray for him for one whole year though I had no clue of the urgency. My redeemer lives!
