“Honey, weren’t we supposed to turn off at that road?” asked Peggy.
“No, I think we ought to go straight. Actually, I know we should go straight. I went to Pigeon Forge last year and I’m certain I didn’t turn off there.”
“Well, that’s not what the map says.”
“Don’t worry, honey. I have everything under control.”
Thirty minutes later, Peggy could contain herself no longer.
“It’s getting dark, Jim. Shouldn’t we be at Pigeon Forge by now?”
“Come on. You know that it takes a long time to get from place to place in the mountains. All these curves and hills. We’ll be there soon. Like I told you, I have everything under control.”
Peggy, remembering the marriage counseling their pastor had given them, decided to humbly submit to her husband though she was quite certain he was wrong.
“Okay, honey,” she said sweetly, “I’m glad I married such a smart husband.”
Forty-five minutes later they made it back to the turnoff that Jim had missed and got their trip back on track. Jim had finally realized that he was wrong and Peggy was right. Although it was difficult for him to admit that fact, he swallowed his pride and meekly turned the car in the right direction. In just fifteen minutes, they turned onto the rustic, dirt road that led to their cabin. The dark woods pressed in on both sides and Peggy automatically moved closer to Jim and slid her cold hand into his warm one.
“Here we are, baby,” exclaimed Jim excitedly as he steered the car around the final curve. Instead of a cozy log cabin in a beautiful setting, they saw flashing lights from fire trucks and police cars and the smoldering ruins of their cabin. Jim jumped out the car and ran to the nearest policeman.
“What happened?” he shouted over the sounds of men yelling and high-powered water hoses. “We were supposed to have our honeymoon here.”
“The gas tank that heated the cabin was faulty and caused a massive explosion. You two are fortunate that you were not in the cabin an hour ago. There is absolutely no way that you could have survived that explosion.”
As if it were verifying the policeman’s words, the last standing wall crumbled to the ground shooting a multitude of sparks into the black sky.
In Heaven, God watched the scene with a compassionate look on His face and said, “Everything is under My control.”

It would help the reader if you added spaces in between the paragraphs though - I almost didn't read it b/c of that but now I'm glad I did. :)
Work a bit on realistic-sounding dialog, and on giving your characters unique and interesting personalities.
Your last line was great.
