My heart warmed and a smile developed slowly as I felt the blessing of the Fathers love once again.
There was no note or card attached. The flowers were anonymous as always, but I knew instantly where they had come from, who had taken the trouble to listen to God and be obedient to His prompting.
You see, this was not the first time I had received this anonymous gift of flowers on my doorstep. Over the months and years that I had lived there, I lost count of the number of times flowers had been left. Sometimes fresh from the garden, Spring, and Summer flowers. In winter months, they were bought sprays – but always, always perfectly timed.
Winter for me is not necessarily the time of year, but it can be ushered in at any time and during those years, winter seemed to visit me often.
Hard, cold struggling days – seasons of pain and hardship, filled with the ‘what if’s ‘and ‘supposing ifs’ that battled in my mind. Seasons when I doubted Gods Presence, questioned His love for me, believing the lie that He had left me, and wasn’t aware of my struggles.
It’s in those winters of the soul, in the midst of the dark thoughts, God can feel distant, detached. I would find myself feeling unlovable, unworthy and in desperate need of assurance that all Gods promises never to leave us nor forsake us were true.
And then the flowers would arrive, taking me by surprise, whisking away the doubts, and pouring Gods love into my heart once more. He had noticed, He wanted to show me how much He knew what I was going through and that nothing could separate me from His love. Nothing!
Now, years later, we have moved away into a new area, and the flowers on the doorstop have stopped. My life situation has not changed radically, but I am stronger in the Lord now, and He has many ways that He continues to show me His love.
Just recently I had a birthday, which is always hard for me, but I was showered with bunches of flowers, by hand and through the post. The blessings kept flowing. I recognised the hand of God, reminding me once more He knew what I needed. And I received them all from Him with thanksgiving.
I really hope my anonymous giver is thoroughly blessed for her obedience, even more so, as I know her life is challenging at times. It has encouraged me to look for ways to bless others, who need to know the love of their Father, to be reassured that He has never left them and is with them always.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Thank you for sharing with us. God is always with us, in ways at times, He is so visible, and other times, it's the feeling way down in our soul.
But the message is that same, He loves us...Amen!
