During the summer, early one morning I sat in my garden, revelling in the quiet and stillness of another hot day to come. I was thanking God for His beautiful Creation, the greenness of the trees, the blueness of the sky. Sitting there I glanced up and noticed the moon was still showing, gradually growing dim as the brightness of the day advanced.
In the peace of the morning, I was aware of my Father trying to catch my attention.
Listening to His still small voice, I was reminded of the scripture in Genesis that says….
As long as the earth endures
Seedtime and harvest
Cold and heat
Summer and winter
Day and night
Will never cease (Genesis 8:22 NIV)
Noah and his family had just come out of the ark with pairs of every living creature. They were the only ones to survive the flood. They built an alter to the Lord, and sacrificed burnt offerings on it. The Lord was pleased with it and scripture says He said in His heart that He would never curse the ground because of humans again, even though the inclination of every human heart was evil. And He would never destroy all living creatures as He had done in the flood. (Genesis 8:20-21 NIV)
His promise still stands for us today even though we have messed up and continue to spoil His Creation with our greed and selfish ways. He is faithful in allowing the earth as we know it to endure, seasons continue, and day and night never cease. Hundreds of years later His faithfulness to His promise still stands. He has kept true to His word.
The promise speaks of a truth that cannot be changed or shaken whatever happens around us. It is written to remind us just who is in control of this earth, even the times and seasons. We may have messed up but God remains the King, He is still in control, He remains the same, He is never changing, and what a comfort to know this, to dwell on this and remember this always.
So great is His faithfulness to humanity
I find this incredibly comforting and reassuring. Whatever our beliefs about the climate, whatever our fears, God is Sovereign over His Creation and not until He ushers in a new Heaven and Earth will this earth as we know it cease to exist. All things will be made new, and as Christians we have this Hope.
Not only is our Lord faithful to His world, but He is faithful to His people. One of my favourite scriptures and one I pray often is from Lamentations 3: 21-23 NIV
Yet, this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope, Because of the Lords great love, we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail, they are new every morning, great is Your faithfulness.
I love this world He has created, I think it is beautiful even in its fallen state. I also love the truth that my Heavenly Father is not only watching over His world, but watching over me, His eye is upon me, caring for me, loving me, I am never alone and His faithfulness will carry me all the way through into Eternity with Him.
Thank you, God, that You are our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea. Amen (Psalm 46:2 NIV)

I would have loved to be transported to that beautiful morning in your garden with more description - like the smells, the sounds, the sights.
