Topic: TASTE (07/01/21)
William Wordsworth wrote, "Come forth into the light of things, let nature be your teacher." Nature has taught me many lessons and one of them I learned from goats. One morning when the golden rays of the sun made the dew drops on the parrot green grass sparkle, the goats came out to graze. Watching them I realized that they were not chewing the grass but just swallowing them. However later on, around noon, I found them lying in the shade of the oak trees, eyes half closed, ears drooping chewing their cud. It was a delightful picture of peace and happiness.


At that juncture I learned an important spiritual lesson. Like all good Christians I begin my day on my knees praying and praising God . I then read my Bible and maybe sing a hymn. By that time the cares of the day overcome me and my quiet time with God ends. Time passes quickly and soon it is night. I remember the goats under the oak tree. It is time for me to chew my cud, read and meditate on the spiritual food I read this morning.


The more I read my Bible, the more I learn. His word is new every time , sweeter than before, lovelier than before. King David said in Psalm 34:8 : "O taste and see that the Lord is good". I do see God revealed in His Word and He is so very good all the time. Sometimes reading and meditating on God's Word makes me peaceful like those goats chewing their cud. Sometimes it exhilarates making me breakout in song of uncontrolled mirth. Sometimes it inspires and encourages me to go out and proclaim His glory.


"How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth."

This brought a smile to my face. It is well written and has some good foundation. I would like to point out that I found it distracting to find more than the usual spacing of your entry. Also, I believe some of your punctuation should be checked. There are a lot of good tools out there for that purpose. This was a very enjoyable read! Good job!

This is a sweet devotion. I did appreciate your lesson. It's one I often need a nudge to live more like Jesus. Be careful of purple prose. Sometimes descriptions can be overdone--too fancy. Also be careful about generalizations/characteristics. Your line: Like all good Christians, I begin my day on my knees. That implies if I don't get on my knees, I'm not a good Christian. Instead just make it about you: Every morning, I get on my knees and pray. Your words did make me stop and think and that's always a win in my opinion. You have the start of an awesome devotion. With just some minor editing, it would be perfect to submit to FW daily devotions.
