I went for a job at the Creation Museum. It is just another museum you would say to yourself. Nothing fancy, right?
No, that is not what happened. I heard about the Creation Museum hiring and having a job fair. What was the worst thing that could happen, get a job? That is not too bad.
I talked my daughter into going to apply for the job or at least going to the job fair. As an encouragement to her, I decided that it would not be too bad to try for a job myself. I looked around at the different parts that they had openings for, they had the zoo, teaching, culinary, housekeeping, security, etc. They had so many places that they needed people for. And to my surprise, there was not many people who were applying for the jobs. You would have thought at a job fair that there would be more people. But there was not.
Culinary caught my eye. Interesting. They had meatballs and fudge brownies. But culinary. Interesting. I had not worked in culinary. Did not realize what culinary was at first. Then figured it out that it had something to do with food. I figured that maybe I would apply at that department. I fix food at home all the time for my kids, my mom, my brother, and myself so it cannot be that bad. And what is the worst that could happen? They say no. No loss there.
What happened? I got the job. Really? Me? I got a job in culinary at the Creation Museum. I told them that it would have to be part time because I work a full-time job. They were okay with that. This is interesting.
My daughter turned down the job in the zoo part. I thought she was crazy, but she said that it was not enough money for her. Which is okay. I just wanted her to get the experience. Yea, she has a job, but she is not liking it.
Okay, so I really had a hidden agenda. I wanted to explore the Creation Museum. This is a Christian museum. I had the day off from work, so after the job fair we were able to walk around and see everything. We took most of the night walking around the museum both inside and out. We saw all sorts of exhibits got a bite to eat, and enjoyed the day with the Lord in a museum. I just wanted to spend the day with my daughter and the Lord doing something that we had not done before. I forgot that her and her brother had been there when they were younger.
We had a great time. We walked around the place and saw the animals, plants, exhibits, everything. We took everything in. It was fun.
Then I start my new adventure, a new shift in life. I had never done anything in culinary. I did not even have all the paperwork. Then I remember that they said that there would be an email. Got the email, filled out all the paperwork and started to work on Wednesday. I forgot to read that the first 2 days were orientation. That makes sense. I had not done orientation in so long that I forgot what it was like. I did not realize that it was long. The first day at least I had to take an hour off from work. Which was okay. I did not have to on the 2nd day. Oh my. This was so wonderful. I could not imagine anything else. I got to see everything again from a different perspective. Now I will be a part of it. I was so excited. This is like fun. I can only imagine heaven being like this. It is not a job. It is a fun adventure. We got to tour 2 different buildings and I did not even get to the Ark Encounter. Which, I found out that me and 1 guest can get in for free at that exhibit. I plan on bringing my mom to it. That would be so much fun. She has wanted to do that. I know that she cannot walk around that much, so I would make sure that she has the wheelchair. They have wheelchairs that you can rent. I cannot wait to bring her to it. I may do that this weekend.
