Topic: BURIED (04/01/21)
If I heard one more accusation about my friend, I was going to lose it. Not only did I know that the statements being made were false, I knew that those doing the accusing were guilty of crimes themselves.

How could this be happening? Why wasn’t anyone questioning or wanting evidence before they joined in with this character assassination? It seemed as though the powerful were out to get him and they joined forces to make it happen.

I watched as half of the world was turned against him. They wanted him gone. They wanted him dead, buried and out of the way! For a small amount of money, another one of his friends turned against him. Even some in his circle watched for opportunities to benefit themselves and gave false testimony against him.

I’d had watched him do great things and give great speeches many times, with great numbers applauding him and wanting more. Then, I would see happen, what had become the pattern. Those in positions of power, who could, would twist and turn his motives and his words into something unrecognizable. It would be presented as “truth.”

The wickedness and deception was working, and the enemy was celebrating.

I watched as they carried out their plan and even plan his crucifixion. Some of their plans were done secretly but most were done out in the open and were obvious. There seemed like there was little I could do.

Most of us kept our distance, not wanting to be associated with him and ending up in danger ourselves.

I even found myself denying I knew him, three times!

I felt so ashamed, and still do. I’ve prayed and I’ve asked my Heavenly Father to forgive me and to help me stand up for what I know is right. Fear has a way of shutting one down...but it’s no excuse. Not when I know where it comes from and who I belong to.

I know the Lord is up to something. You know, turning what the enemy meant for bad into good. I have to believe it is not over.

I’m expecting a big “Ta Duh!” real soon. Just as the enemy thinks he has won!

This is nice! Terse writing would build on the tension. The story could have developed further. Show the angst of Peter's emotions. The fear vs. the faith. The ending is a bit too abrupt and "ta dah" a bit too trite. Give it all you've got!
