When I was a young child, you could take empty soda bottles to a grocery store and get around two or three cents for each bottle. If you had enough bottles, you could get some candy or chewing gum. The gum probably cost two cents and the candy anywhere from two cents to maybe five cents, depending on the type of candy.

A child called Larry went to the store and on the way he lost his money. He would be very happy if the storekeeper gave him a chance to earn the money back by running errands. Some people believe the Lord wants us to earn our way to heaven by doing things for Him, such as working at the church. But in reality, we are all sinners and have no way to get to heaven on our own. The Lord Jesus made the way for us to go there by going to the cross and then rising again from the dead.

The Lord deposited His righteousness into our account, and took out all of the evil deeds we have done in our life. So when the accuser Satan comes to accuse us of all the evil things we have done, the Lord will tell Satan that all of our sins are under Jesus’ blood and can never be brought up again.

We can go to church and work for the Lord because we want to serve Him, not because we have to, but because we are grateful for all He has done for us. He has given us a right standing with God, and He gives us peace when all around us is swirling out of control.

He gives us all we need each day for our sustenance and happiness. Bless His name!
