In Scripture we are told to engage this practice on some occasions. It is a practice for times when we are ordaining a particular function, such as Minister of The Gospel of Jesus Christ, or ordaining one as a Deacon of the local Church.
This is a practice frequently used when engaging in a prayer for healing for one who has requested healing. It does have spiritual significance for completing the desired result.
There is just something that happens when hands are laid upon.
This is one of those days when I have work to do that I really would rather not. As I thought, “What can I do to get things moving?” this was the answer that popped into my mind, “Just lay hands on it!”
No, I do not think that if I put my hands on that mop that my house will be suddenly clean. There is no hocus pocus that can be used.
However, the thought has value because we accomplish nothing until we put our hands to the work of doing the task. No need to expect that anything gets finished with the most meticulous of planning on a sheet of paper.
Just get the mop and the bucket and the task has begun.
Just pick up the Bible and read. Simply place the hand on the phone and call a shut in person assuring them that they are not forgotten, and that someone is available to assist them if it is needed.
We must not forget that gentle hands laid upon our children is so affirming to them that they are acceptable and loved.
Good intentions do create an expectation of successful results, planning may be a requisite, but unless we put our hands to the project then our expected outcome will never be a reality.
