Can I come in? asks he.
I bring you all you've ever wanted: fame and riches galore,
maybe an extra helping of glory and oh, so much more.
No, I answer. Fame and glory do not belong to me.
They belong to the creator, God, God the Almighty.
Now go away and leave me be.
Sorry... this space is already taken.
There is a knock at my door.
Let me in, says he.
I offer you treasures,
all the world's pleasures and oh, so much more.
All you have to do is open your door to me.
No, I answer. My treasure awaits me in eternity,
for God has prepared for me a place,
because of His sweet loving grace,
a place especially for me
in His kingdom of Heaven, glory be.
Now go away and depart from me.
Sorry... this space is already taken.
There is a pounding at my door.
Open the door, says he.
The world is full of sorrow, full of pain.
For you I will take it all away.
You will have the perfect life.
Imagine living with no troubles, no strife,
nothing to lose but everything to gain.
What do you say?
Open the door.
Let me in. I will give you all that- and more.
Yes, I say, the world is full of sorrow and pain,
but I've already chosen to walk the narrow road, not the wide,
knowing that Jesus will be by my side.
The world has fallen into the claws of your darkness because of sin.
Turmoil, death, destruction, all exist because someone else first let you in.
You see, I am a child of God. I am cleansed from my sin.
Though unworthy, I am still truly forgiven.
For me He shed His blood on the cross.
For me He has shed many a tear.
God's hope is that no soul will be lost.
Again, He shed His blood on that cross,
and He has shed many a tear
for anyone who opens their door to let Him in.
So leave, you are not welcome here.
Sorry... this space is already taken.
At last there was silence behind the door,
but his words came at me yet once more.
What a fool is Jesus.
What a fool is He.
I was at His door too, but He said no.
I offered Him the world, but He demanded that I go.
So I left Him to die on the cross. I was there.
I watched Him suffer. I didn't care.
There are many more doors to enter through,
many more will let me in,
for they will never choose your God over sin.
And ha, I will ensure your path will not be an easy one for you.
I answer, it is you who has been proven to be the fool many times before.
I may be in battle, but this is God's war.
You will never win.
Neither will the world. Neither will sin.
You are already on your way to your own demise.
You are full of deceit, and your words are all lies.
You were already in defeat, you surely knew,
when Jesus chose the cross, over you.
Three days after death, Jesus rose. He is alive indeed!
That very day, He watered many a seed.
For such says God's Word, and God's Word is true.
You-
You, I do not fear.
So leave. You are never welcome here.
And no, I really am not sorry this space is taken.
for God is with me, and I am not forsaken.
Jesus says to me so gentle and sweet,
Never mind who is behind the door,
for he has already fled at the sound of my voice.
Thank you, my child, for making me your choice.
Come now. I have prepared for you a serving of life to eat,
a serving of bread and wine.
Come. Let's dine.
