Topic: GRADUATE (08/01/19)
Graduation Day

I am sitting in the auditorium. Pomp and Circumstance begins to play, filling the auditorium with excited anticipation. Soon the graduates begin to walk down the aisles, filing up to the stage where they'll take their seats on the platform.

I could see Hope sitting next to her twin, Faith. Both girls dressed in their white gowns and graduation caps. A part of this class, a part of this group of young people looking forward to receiving their diplomas and beginning their futures.

I could see Hope smiling as her friend, Meghan, rose and walked to the podium where she will present the address to her fellow graduates, school administration, family and friends that Hope could not voice herself. As Meghan began to speak, Faith began to feel uneasy wondering if she should be somewhere else.

Meghan began to talk about how being a graduate meant that one met the requirements of their school to graduate. She continued reading what Hope had written, concluding with the requirements of a successful life: Believing in God and putting Him first, honoring your parents ( no matter your age), respecting others and their possessions, and most important showing kindness, love and grace to everyone you meet on your life journey. Meeting these requirements would make you a graduate of Life.

I could see Hope smiling as the auditorium erupted with applause and Meghan returned to her seat. I looked at Faith who had begun to cry.

I stood and cheered as they called Faith's name and she walked across the stage to get her diploma. When they called Hope's name Faith began to cry again and ran off the stage.

I left the auditorium and just as I found Faith my phone displayed the message "HURRY". We quickly left the school, got in the car and drove as fast as we could. When we got to her hospital room I saw Hope laying on the hospital bed in her white robe and graduation cap. She wore the biggest smile and seemed so peaceful.

"When?" I asked my husband. He replied soon after he messaged me and what the time had been. It was right when the school principal pronounced their high school class officially graduated that God and His angels welcomed Hope and pronounced her a Graduate of Life.

I love stories with twins. I love the twin names, Faith and Hope. This story had a sad, but beautiful, ending. God bless.

I had to read this a few times to understand what happened, and still not comprehending how it did. If Faith and Hope were sitting together? In spirit, perhaps? A bittersweet tale.
