Topic: QUESTION (S) (05/30/19)
Jesus before Pilate, said, “Everyone that is of the truth hears my voice.” (John 18:37 NKJV) Pontius Pilate responded, “What is truth?” (John 18:38 NKJV)

Is there a more important question that you or I can think of? Other questions hinge on the main one: “What is truth?” It is the question of questions. I believe we are on dangerous ground when we try to change the meaning of truth.

People today talk about “your truth” and “my truth”. We have heard it said that what is true for you may not be true for me. People who believe this by default believe that there are no absolutes. How can this be? “It is all relative”, they say. Can truth change? Relative? To whom or what? That concept scares me because there is no safety in it. Truth is foundational. When its meaning is obscured by opinion the world becomes shifting sand under our feet.

But what about THE Truth? We cannot turn away from Jesus, who is the Truth, to serve self, as is the popular way of thinking. To do so is to put self in the place reserved for God, thus making self an idol. That is immensely serious.

Jesus said that He is “the Truth”. What does that mean? Everything He is and does is truth. His unconditional love, His grace and His mercy are truth. His righteous principles are truth.The penalty for sin is truth but so is His free gift of salvation. Truth is a Person, the Lord Jesus Christ. To know Him is to know the Truth.

Personal questions that we must address are these: Do we know the Truth? Do we hear His voice? Do we live and move and have our being in the Truth? Do we know that we are embraced by the protection and safety that the Truth provides? Is He our all-in-all?

What a wonderful Savior He is! He is the answer to all of our questions, and He is all that we need.

You have a strong subject here. A strong subject requires a strong, well-thought out argument. Work on your hook. That's what grabs the reader's attention first. In the middle, build your argument, point by point, and tie it together with a strong conclusion. Keep writing!

I definitely love truth and the fact you chose truth as the core theme of your entry.

I do think,however, that this article brings up more questions than it answers. If you look up the word truth in the dictionary or thesaurus, you will find a whole new world of connections.

Truth,after all,must be fleshed out to be understood. Why is truth important? Truth is important because it is a light to help us through darkness. One who follows the light, will not fall. Christ is truth, the light of the world, and we cannot go wrong following Christ.

There are probably many more correlations of truth to synonyms that can 'enlighten' your essay and shed a light on its meaning.

This is a hard subject to tackle. I wrote something on it also. I have gotten in trouble writing on it. Ravi Zacharias said "truth is in itself exclusive". Makes perfect sense to me. Writing to Christians about it is one thing, because we have a common belief. The scriptures, talking to the world requires a deeper discernment...but we still have enemies. You did a good job!

You covered a lot of truth here. Plenty of questions but few answers. This would have read better had you had a good attention-grabbing opening line, and then bringing it around again at your closing. You have a good grasp on doing devotionals, just a little more work to make it exciting to read!
