And with all we have seen in the last one, I fear that
Someone will forget that true love and good cheer
Are the time transcendent reasons for continuing here.
Since life brings gladness and sorrow, it's true
There is no guarantee what any year will allow.
So in gladness be glad, and in sorrow somehow
Find comfort that every day presents new
Opportunities to live in a way that declares
The dignity of living as someones who cares
About others and comforts the sorrowful and shares
What they can with the hurting ones they meet along the way.
Yea, there are no guarantees of a Happy New Year,
But each day life will invite our faith to appear
In the heart that we show to the ones we hold dear
And the hope that love makes a refuge Today.
