A friend of mine has a garage that is full of stuff. Outside sits a new truck, a new car, along with an assorted number of used cars. He must have several thousand dollars invested in cars, many of which he does not use. In light of all this, he says that he is going to clear out his two car garage in which he could keep two of his newest vehicles. I've known the guy for several years and he is yet to make the first step toward his great garage clearing sensation.

I see my friend's situation as humorous but at the same time confusing, since I have a love affair with my one car garage. Whenever we come home in a storm, we simply pull into our garage and get out of the car bone dry. I am usually quick to point out to my friend regarding the love for my garage. “You better get on the stick to protect your investments,” I say to him. My chiding words must not offend him because we're still friends.

But, alas, my friend is not the only one who has projects that he intends to do some day. In years past I belonged to a club that helped people in public speaking. One got an award for successes. But our illustrious chairman created what he called a round-to-it award. It didn't last long because no one wanted to admit that he didn't get around to doing his assignment for that week.

There is, however, the most important aspect of life in which one cannot afford to put off and that is one's spiritual position. My friend has that under control, so he's safe. His deposit has been paid for him to live in a mansion that his Savior Jesus Christ is building for him. He has heard the gospel message and has responded in a positive manner. I am pleased to have joined my friend in gaining that deposit for my own mansion. My friend and I are pleased to know that we will be neighbors some day.

It stops my mind, at times, to think of the number of times I put off dealing with my spiritual decision. Having heard the gospel all my life, I didn't accept the Lord until an adult. Before that time, I would have been given the worst round-to-it award one could imagine; a permanent dwelling place in the abyss. But with other fundamentalists I can jole and say that my fire insurance is paid in full.

But what about now? Are there blessings that I've not received due to putting things off? I'll have to admit that there is one, prayer. The Lord wants me to seek His face. He wants to build me up and empower me to gain victory over these tumultuous times. Because of His great love He also wants to make me a witness so that others may see Him and be encouraged.
