Just outside of the room, stood the boy’s best friend, a woman he met a few days before. She overheard the brief conversation, and said to God within herself: “Daddy you are my father, promise keeper and best friend, please unclog the wells of her life and speak life into the wells of her ministry.”
All at once, “Mom”, began to talk like a professional storyteller. It is May 9th, the Sun woke up with you today at 5:45am. Since then, the clouds occasionally covered the sun, providing us with a shady forecast. Unbothered by the action, your thermostat at the window still reads 72º. There are a few, small white puffy clouds decorating the sky as the birds take a journey over the land. (She raises her hand to say, “look”, and in turn begins to wave to the bird that just landed on the window sill).
Desmond then reaches over and begins tapping her saying, “Why?” (Looking at her) “Did you stop talking?” (a tapping sound came from the window) She says, “Oh, I looked up, saw the bird heading towards the window and I thought he would injure his head not knowing it was glass, but instead, he landed safely on the sill. Desmond said (smiling), “My friend Howard came to visit me ”.(He began to wave wholeheartedly through the cracked curtains). Shortly afterwards, Howard flew after seeing him wave. (Desmond returned to his bed reaching for his sailor dressed teddy bear wondering how the story was going to end).
Moments later, she continued, “Kitchen lights and (open) neighborhood stores beautify the panoramic view of the city as I glance out of your 5-pane window. (As she takes a brief pause to smile, his clock sounded, “Rise and Shine”. (Not realizing the time being 7am, she smiled looking at the boy). As she turned toward him, he began to laugh his ol’ bellyful laugh…saying, “Now that’s my Momma, the one I’ve been waiting for all these years”.
Desmond, (turning to get out of the bed), reached for his stick (tapping it), says to her, “I laid in this bed blind and ill, but you were the only one who I saw Christ in before I knew your name; That’s why He named you Christine… God is definitely with you and in you…
I never got to know my mother like I know you. If were to meet her today, I would still call you 'Momma' for the fact that you are my constant reminder that God will never leave me nor forsake me. The Bible says, 'when my mother and father forsake me, the Lord will take me up'…that He did do…that is why I am here today… Spring Showers Water God’s Flowers."
