Topic: Love and Grace (09/11/14)
It had been only 6 years since World-War II ended. Most Americans thought that WW-II would be the last world war of the century.

However, America was now involved in a conflict in Korea, an area of the world that most folks could not find on a globe or map.

“Daddy, where is Korea? Why are you going there? When will you come home?” These were just a few of the questions asked in rapid-fire succession by Annie Grace, directed at her father.

Obadiah Grace III was recently promoted to the rank of Captain in the Marine Corps. He was following in the footsteps of his father, Obadiah Grace Jr., as a chaplain in the Marine Corps.

Obadiah Grace III served as a chaplain in the Pacific Theatre during WW-II as a Second Lieutenant fresh out of the Naval Academy.

He learned on the run how to comfort and tend to the spiritual needs of young Marines in the grinding mill of warfare.

“Annie Grace my love, God will be with you and mom during the time I will be in Korea.” “He better be daddy, or I will put God in timeout just like you do to me when I do something bad.”

Obadiah quickly headed to bathroom to have a good cry good and laugh in that Annie always knew how to steal his heart.

The next morning, Obadiah kissed his wife and Annie and prayed with his family.

“Dear Lord Jesus, please be with my wife Clare, and my sweet little angel, Annie. Comfort them every hour that we are apart. I know I am doing your will, and that you will give me the strength and courage to comfort my fellow Marines and help them to cope and survive what they are about to encounter on foreign soil. I ask this in your holy name, amen.”

Obadiah quietly walked out the door, and looked back to see Clare and Annie blowing kisses. Obadiah blew one last kiss, and headed to the car of a fellow Marine heading to Korea with Obadiah.

The 8 hour drive to catch a ship to Korea was a quiet trip for each Marine.

Obadiah set sail for Korea aboard the battleship SS Montana with his new assignment as a member of Fox Company.

After 8 days of heavy seas, the ship arrived at Inchon, Korea. Within 5 hours, Fox Company was smack-dab in the middle of a fierce fight with North Korean soldiers.

“You have to hold on son, it will be a short bit before the medic can reach us. I pray that our Lord will give you peace and comfort Private Bonner, God’s grace is sufficient enough to heal the worst wounds to our bodies and souls.”

“You, your name is Grace Sir, did God give you that name so that you can help injured soldiers like me and my buddies?”

“You know what son, I have been asked this many times while I tended to the needs of young Marines in the Pacific Theatre during WW-II. Yes, I know for a fact that the Lord gave me and my family this name and he uses me to let soldiers know that they are in God’s grace no matter what happens.”

Captain Grace managed to get the young Marine to the makeshift hospital nearby. The young Marine would make it thanks to the Captain.

The fighting intensified, and many young Marines soon became victims of the onslaught of Chinese and North Korean forces that held the upper-hand in superior numbers.

Captain Grace was tending to the needs of injured Marine and Army troops in the makeshift hospital that consisted of 4 large tents with wooden floors.

There were 10 injured soldiers in the hospital with Captain Grace and 1 medical RN. The captain knew that everyone in the M.A.S.H was depending on him for courage and inner-peace from God.

“I need everyone’s attention, and ask that you focus on me and the light above my head.” The men looked confused in that none could see any light above the Captains head.

One by one, the wounded Marines saw the light. When all had seen the light, the fighting gave to a peaceful light snowfall.

No soldier ever discussed seeing the light. Captain Grace knew in his heart that the love and prayers sent up to our Lord, came down answered with love and grace sufficient enough for all who trusted in Jesus.

I wanted to correct an error in the next to last paragraph. I meant to say "the fighting gave way to a peaceful snowfall"

Sorry about this mistake. I try hard to catch them all, but this one slipped by me.
