God’s Love and Grace are Sufficient

In Christianity, grace is "unmerited favor" from the God as referred to in the Bible (according to Wikipedia.) Grace may be described as power that enables, sufficient for growing and moving forward. Grace is a gift from God for character development and improvement. People cannot overcome certain limitations, weaknesses, flaws, impurities, and faults without God's grace. Grace is not just God's loving kindness, but God’s divine life itself, which lets the work of Christ to flow through us. In Christ, through prayer and turning away from sin, we are restored to grace and reconciled to God and become new creations. We cannot earn nor do we deserve grace, therefore, we cannot claim it as a right.

*Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

A friend and coworker frightened me when she stated she was tired of living and was considering suicide. I could clearly see all the good in her but she could not and I felt her pain. She was in a failing relationship, dealing with alcoholism as well as a child who was handicapped mentally and 2 other children as well. She was trying to survive but without holding on to our Savior. She was not even sure she believed in Him. I wrote a poem out of my compassion for her struggles, but mostly because I know the only way through a dark place is by following the guiding light of Jesus. I have been on the receiving side of encouragement from someone who cared and I remember that it made my load lighter when I was reminded that God is in control and we should try our best to follow His will. I gave my friend her poem.

Jesus Take Her by the Hand

Jesus, take her by the hand,
You are the only one who can
Walk with her through each passing day,
Stay close by her side, this of You, I pray

As you’ll walk along, teach her Your plans for her life
Show her how important she is as person, mother and wife
She is learning about You, Jesus, help her to learn with ease
Let her feel with all certainty that walking with You brings peace

When our world is seen through Your eyes
Beauty and goodness, all around us, comes alive
No longer are there boundaries set
We open ourselves to the miracles not seen as yet

Under Your watchful eye, all obstacles can be overcome
Perseverance, hard work, and knowing that
When extra grace is required, there will always be some
A new determination found to stay on track

Love her today, Jesus and every day, with Your precious heart
So she will know that, with Your love and grace, she can have a brand new start

I understand that I will never know if it made any impact that helped her in any significant way and I am ok with that. I am certain that planting seeds by talking about, explaining, encouraging with, or writing about the Word of God is enough because God’s grace and love is sufficient to take over from there and meet any need.
