going this way and that
looking around,
they have their life down pat
Back to their gadgets,
the alluring magic, of being important
through an e-mail, text and chat,
Even better to be friended,
say or post something, be trending and liked.
It’s madness can’t you see;
look up for just a moment.
While it connects and links,
it brings about certain grief
Perhaps it’s only a novelty,
but each day more are doing it.
It’s a new dawn for relationships,
close, but not too close,
familiar, but far away
recognizable, but a shadow
It’s madness can’t you see;
look up for just a moment
I don’t see your face, your looks,
your smile, your gestures, your tears.
It brings information, thoughts, ideas
glimpses of a person’s life, but it
reduces the essence of you
It’s madness can’t you see;
look up for just a moment.
You want to be known,
it can be plainly seen,
but it isn’t about that.
It’s about knowing the One
who put you here, getting right with Him,
and living your days for His glory.
It’s madness can’t you see;
look up for just a moment and it will be plainly seen.
It’s been said before,
"The heavens declare the glory of God
And the firmament shows His handiwork."
Trace the stars with your fingers
And wonder who put them there
just for you.
It’s madness can’t you see;
look up for a moment.
Set it down
and think about the One,
Who was and is
And forever more will be.
Give it to Him and
He will set your course
for waters streaming and lands untold.
It’s madness can’t you see;
look up for a moment and you will be free.

I like to have each group of lines match in number. This is sometimes difficult to do. It takes time and effort.
