It’s hard to imagine that a caterpillar will soon turn into a beautiful butterfly. No matter what our outward appearance is, we can become a beautiful person. With God’s help this can be an easy process.
When a butterfly emerges its beauty is revealed, to witness this is a most rewarding experience. In May of 2010 I ordered a “Real Butterfly Hatching Kit.” I wanted to see the metamorphosis of a caterpillar changing into a butterfly. This process took about three weeks to complete.
I received two containers of baby caterpillars, which grew many times their original size within a week. It was amazing to watch them grow. I looked on with anticipation each day for the final result.
A week later they turned into chrysalides. When this happens the caterpillars climb to the top of the container, and hang down head first. After this process, they were transferred to the butterfly habitat.
Finally, a week later they turned into beautiful butterflies, with vibrant colors of orange and rust, with a black surrounding the edges. I fed them with orange slices, observed them several days, and then released them. What an awesome experience this was !
This experiment allowed me to see one of God’s miracles. 2 Corinthians 5:17 states “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are past away; behold all things are become new.” (King James Version) This scripture shows that a transformation can take place in our lives also , when we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
Just as a beautiful sight appears before us as a butterfly emerges. Beauty is exposed in the life of a Christian through the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7 makes it clear how God feels about the outward appearance, it also helps us to realize where true beauty comes from.

Rom. 6:1-11 tells the same story in a very unique form. We die to sin (repent or change) just like the caterpillar seems to "die" change - it is no longer a caterpillar. We are buried in water. The chrysalis is buried in a case. We are raised as a new creature in Christ as a Christian while the chrysalis is raised to a new life as a butterfly.
The Bible teaches so much by similes, metaphors and other comparisons.
Thank you for your comparison.
