Topic: Download/Upload (11/17/11)
Download and Upload—that’s all Jenny had been doing for several years. Since the very beginning of her writing life—a writing life that began in a simple and easy going way, she had been downloading and uploading many, many articles and eBooks. Why, there were times when she spent all morning downloading articles she needed to help her with her work at Coughlin and Coughlin, an advertising agency where she worked full time as a proof reader and website writer. She had no idea that she would be working in the advertising arena; however, she found the work interesting and profitable; even though there were days when the stress of the job was just too much.

It was on a cold December day when she encountered something quite strange after downloading what she thought was a normal advertising article. The process began as usual by clicking on to what she wanted, giving an o.k. to the process, saving it and then making the corrections needed for her files. After she saved the document and then went back in to ensure that everything was as it should be, that’s when she found something totally different and unusual.

Inside the document she found the following words, “You have downloaded a document that you will not be able to use at your advertising agency or anywhere else; however, you have downloaded something that you will never forget or want to discard.”

Next, she saw an image of Jesus and the following message. “My dearest Jenny, I know you might think that this is a strange way to reach you; however, you have not been coming to me when you’re in trouble and that bothers me a great deal. You see, Jenny, you are a sheep that has strayed and I wanted to use this method to try and tell you that you’re not alone. I also know that certain things are bothering you; especially your worries about your husband, Dan. Dan has been worried about his health and has been praying often to me about his pain. Of course you already know that but what he doesn’t know is that he has a healing coming his way but it will much sooner if you pray with him and give him comfort he needs. Jenny, you are a fine woman but you haven’t been talking with Dan about faith and giving him encouraging words. I know you’re busy but Jenny, please take time with Dan. He needs your comfort and words of faith. Take good care, my precious Jenny and talk with me soon! Love, Your best friend, Jesus.”

She left work early that day and after opening the door to her home, she found Dan in the living room. He was napping and had a tired but peaceful look on his face. As she approached him, she touched his forehead. Immediately after she touched him, he woke up and smiled at her. “I was dreaming of you, Jen just now. I dreamed that you and I were in good health and so happy. I’m feeling better, Jen. Just seeing you makes me feel better. This arthritis I’ve had for so long is not so bad. Today and yesterday I have felt some relief from the pain. Have you been praying for me?”

Jen smiled and said, “Yes, I have but from now on we’re going to pray together everyday. Let’s pray right now.”

They joined hands and Jen began to pray, “Jesus, we need a healing for Dan. His arthritis has been painful for a long time. Have mercy on him and please give him relief and peace from his pain. Thank you Jesus for everything!”

Dan quipped in and said, “Yes, thank you Jesus for everything. Jen and I will pray and give you praise everyday. Thank you, too, for Jen. A finer wife I couldn’t have!”

Amen

Here is a truly uplifting story about a download. It gave me a warm feeling inside.

This is a sweet story. I have suffered with chronic pain for 23 years soI could really relate to your story.

I think the beginning would have been stronger ifyou had started with the paragraph about the strange download. Then you could have included some of the background information.

You did a nice job of bringing the topic into your story. I liked the ending when the husband confirmed he needed his wife to support him and pray with him.

Your message that prayer is important is spot on. I have heard people say things like "The least I can do is pray." In reality praying is the MOST powerful thing we can do.

Such a moving and inspiring story.

I really like the way the Lord got Jenny's attention. The only helpful thing that struck me was in the conversation Jenny was reading from Jesus. It seemed that every few words He would say "Jenny." But since it was for her and sent to her, repeating her name over and over again felt a bit forced and unnatural.

I loved how this spoke to the impact as couples that we have on our spouses and the power we can lend when two actually become one - especially in prayer.
