Topic: Time-consuming (02/24/11)
How much time is it worth to save one soul or to keep one soul from being misled? Is it worth writing just to prevent one person from going astray? It is time consuming to sit down and research for a couple hours and write an article for maybe as few as one person.

Previously a gentleman named Bishop John Spong came to our area to preach his New Christianity. From reading articles about him in the religious section of the daily newspaper I decided to write an article which was published in full. This was the article.

I would like to answer Bishop (John) Spong and his followers concerning his ‘New Christianity.’
One of Spong’s followers wrote a supporting article in a local newspaper proselytizing this new religion. The article supported Spong and his ‘New Christianity’-which is quite different than the Apostolic Christianity taught by the people who actually knew Jesus and saw with their own eyes what he had done.

When reading about Spong, one might think he was enlightened by a special source. We might be misled by his title bishop just like we could be misled by Judas’ title of apostle. Two of his new teachings which he now espouses are that man is holy and everyone is loved by God. Jesus taught that no man is good and that God hated Easu.

Spong says that man can become a fully perfected human being, if you will, godly. I support Spong on his teaching it is right from the bible. It is right in the book of Genesis. It is a quote right from Lucifer, himself, spoken thru the serpent to entice Eve to eat the forbidden fruit so that she could become like God. I believe you can clearly see Spong is spreading a gospel-the ‘Gospel of the Antichrist.’ The big lie is that Jesus isn’t God but he became like god through his good deeds and good living. The Apostles taught us that Jesus is God because He is God.

In the book of John, Jesus prays; "Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.” Clearly Jesus said he was glorified before the world began, before Adam the first human.
It is a real shame that Spong and his followers weren’t at the Crucifixion. They could have informed Jesus he didn’t have to die. He could have gotten down off the cross. He wouldn’t have had to shed his blood. Remember Jesus said he could call a legion of angels to rescue him. Haven’t Spong and his followers read that in the garden of Jesus was in such agony over about what was to happen that he sweated tears like drops of blood? He asked his Father if there wasn’t another way for the redemption of man caused by that ‘big lie’ in the garden.

Paul told us that scripture was God breathed. It’s the word of God written by the hands of men. The ‘New Christianity’ tells us it isn’t. Jesus walked on water and raised people from the dead. Well, ‘New Christians’ were waiting to see what you can do since you have become like god.

It is time consuming to just making one person think and totally convince them they have gone wrong. When sharing the message everything is relevant. We are in a partnership with the Holy Spirit himself because no one can call Jesus god except through the Holy Spirit. We’re certainly living in the last days and we must be alert and ready to defend the gospel the Apostles that knew Jesus preached. The new apostles like Spong work for Lucifer.

Heresy has even infiltrated our churches nowadays. There is a group of Progressives in a mainline church with CallToAction groups. They actually invited Spong to speak at one of conferences. Things look pretty bleak in the United States.

But all is not lost. It has now been reported that there are over 100,000,000 Christian ‘believers’ in China. China actually allows this because in these Christian communities there is a lot of production and no crime. Saudi Arabia is in crises because of the number of their citizens coming to Christ. There are tens of thousands Iranians coming to Christ. It is time consuming to search for these things and good news. It is worth it to give us confidence. Stand your ground!

Interesting take on the topic. Interesting view of scriptures. I found a few missing words, I think. But, you made some good points. Thanks for sharing.

interesting how you weave the values together. I have not heard about this particular "version" of the truth that Spong expouses but it just shows how important it is to weigh up everything against the bible. i liked the way you ended with a paragraph on the positive spread of Christian faith in some countries.

I agree it is worth the time to expound on God's scripture not the antichrist. Very well written. Thank you. Good job and keep writing.
