All the while admiring God’s flora and fauna
So few we have of these leisurely moments
To relax in nature’s own sun soaked sauna
We guide our canoe through the Shoot’s swift water
Then paddle the still at an unhectic pace
This is life at its best with no present bother
Our spirits look on God’s shimmering face
The darkness and depth surrounded by high cliff walls
Are followed by the shallows gently as a brook
The green canopy above serenely stands tall
As we float by a couple dropping a line and hook
The mighty magnolias sprinkled with the grace
Of its bountiful blossoms of scented pure white
Tower above the sweet dogwoods growing at their base
Whose blossoms are sprinkled with the blood of Christ
The blackberry blossoms are white as snow flakes
Still covering the emerging greenery of the earth
The Okatoma in spring quite a showing makes
As we see a glimpse of the wonder of new birth
I breathe in the freshness of scented air
That lingers in the trappings of time
I wonder at the peacefulness hovering there
And know I see love sublime
The sweet calm of the color dappled foliage
Broken only by the faintest echo of voices ahead
I think after six days of working and toiling
This must have been the place God rested His head
