Hawaii seemed to have the serenity for which she was anticipating. But, she had been to Hawaii and, although it was a beautiful paradise in some areas, she wasn’t at all thrilled with that idea. Nancy’s daughter had always said that if things got bad in the United States, her husband would move them to Australia. Now there is a place, she thought. She moved her mouse back to the search panel and typed in the word “Australia.”
Words captured her eyes. Come and ‘walkabout’ with me. The thought embraced Nancy. She shut her eyes and became enveloped in her mental paradise. She felt the warm sand beneath her feet as she strolled along the beaches. She let her mind relax and even wiggled her toes against the carpet under her feet. The pictures she viewed on her browser showed soft pink hues of the sunset. Nancy wanted to take it all in. She read on.
Australia had other specialties. She wanted to experience them all. She wanted to sit on the branch of a Boab. The picture showed the enormous tree with its massive trunk. It was used by the Aboriginal Australians for shelter. Oddly enough, these trees would shed their leaves in the dry season and flower in the wet. Nancy began to absorb more than the ad was giving her. Could it be that creation knew how to refresh itself and she could learn from these trees? She read on.
The tourism ads showed waterfalls and rivers. Isolated ponds are called Billabongs. Billabong means a river continuing through time and space. During the wet season, the rivers would swell and connect these ponds together. Water flowing through these low places would bring refreshing clear water as the river changed courses. Nancy knew of a river that would never run dry. She knew that there was a Source of life that could flow through her that would continue through time and space. All she had to do what let that river flow through her.
Nancy’s thoughts were interrupted as the melody from her cell phone ringer caught her attention. “Hello,” she said softly.
“Hi, Baby!” Nancy’s heart skipped a beat as she recognized the voice of her best friend, her lover and her husband. “Just letting you know that I’m just five minutes from the house. I’ve been thinking about you all day.”
“Really?”
“Sure have. I just wanted to let you know how much I love you and appreciate all you do to keep our family on the right track. I know life gets to you and you try to manage everything to the best of your ability. I don’t tell you enough. But, I need to tell you. Let’s have some quality time tonight. Want to?”
Nancy choked back the tears. She still had the pictures of Australia on her monitor. In that moment, she felt she had been on vacation. She had been able to rest in the branches of the Boab, stick her feet in the Billabong and take a walkabout without leaving her home or her family. The best part was that she still had the rest of the evening to bask in the arms of her favorite person in the whole world.

FYI--the tree is a "baobab".
Your last paragraph is wonderful.
