Prison bells living hell, waiting on your mail, clear blue skies sleepless nights’ one more day a head. Every man must die, but few men really live.
I sat in my cell at the age of 19 reminiscing about my past, my life flashed before my eyes, I hung my head in shame and ask myself what would my grandma think of me now? I searched deep with in mind looking for an answer pacing the floors in tears hoping some how I could change where I stood.
My heart hurt in anguish what a failure I had become. Then a flood of childhood memories struck me and I was suddenly in the car with my parents and three older sisters Diane, Linda, and Cindy it was Christmas time all over again we was traveling to see my grandparents at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Oh what fun it was to ride 500 miles to and fro to see the mountain tops to ride the bumpy roads up and down pretending we was on a rollercoaster yelling and screaming at the top of our lungs.
We sang Christmas songs and couldn’t wait to get to grandma’s so we could eat all her scrumptious recipes that was part of her traditions, to open the gifts, to light the candle to sing about the birth of Jesus, to sit out on the front porch and look at the lake and to gaze into the skies to see who could first find the little and big dipper.
My last car trip to see my grandma what eternal value our visit had which I swore to her not to tell a soul as she confided in me.
What joy and what peace shined upon her face her eyes, like a flint glowing in anticipation. I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL FOR THAT MOMENT IN WHICH I PRAY THAT WHEN MY TIME COMES TO MEET MY MAKER THAT I TOO MAY HAVE THAT SAME BOLDNESS SHE DISPLAYED. What a beautiful picture she painted as SHE SAID I saw Jesus last night walking on the water in the storm with his arms wide open, Mike I am going to heaven to be with my Jesus.

A tear-jerker and reminder of the deep impact we have on each others' lives. What an ending: "Mike I am going to heaven to be with my Jesus."
