Adam and Eve invented it in the Garden of Eden, but the rules weren’t written in stone yet…they were waiting on Moses.
The first recorded game of hide and seek was recently found and played on ESPN Classic, the Genesis Project.
“You’ve got to see this” said Hunka and Mirtle Turtle to their best friend Ollie Ostrich. “They should do a show on us because this is an easy game. All we have to do is pull our head and legs into our shells, and you just need to bury your head.”
“I can’t believe they are going to fall for that. God is going for the ‘Where are you?’ strategy” said the ESPN announcer. “God is the best seeker in the game’s history, but Satan is a close second. Remember it says in 1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV), Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
“I heard you in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked. And I hid” said Adam on the news clip.
“Naked! We don’t ever play the game naked. Adam and Eve just don’t understand the game.” Mirtle said to Ollie as she shook her head in disbelief. “They don’t play this game very well” agreed Ollie. “We would do much better.”
“Well, sports fans, here’s your chance to let us know how you play the game. Are you a seeker, or do you hide?
“Are you a player who pulls away from everyone and goes into a shell because you just can’t take it anymore? Has life hit you in the face and left you bloodied and bruised? So now you just shut everything and everyone out?”
Hunka and Mirtle just looked at each other. Is that how we play the game?
“Do you play the game by ignoring what’s really going on? Are a player who just sticks their head in the sand instead of facing your problems?”
“Oh my,” said Ollie.
“Or maybe you’re a seeker, looking for Jesus to be the Lord of your life. It says in Matthew 7:7-8 (NKJV) Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
