Images continue to flood your mind.
The clutter of all those years persist.
You are unable to leave them behind.
So many times and places of past,
Dimensions of which you will never return
Still darken your heart and memories,
Emotions only continue to burn.
You know I see the pain in your eyes,
And understand the raging war within.
I long to heal your withering soul,
And warm your cold heart once again.
Turn and choose to listen to my voice,
And follow the gentle lead of my hand,
I am the bridge leading to forgiveness,
And peace you could never comprehend.
Search your soul now deep down inside,
And answer the hardest question of all;
Is there something that’s locking your heart,
Darkness causing you to stumble and fall?
Open that door you can no longer hide,
Face those painful acts committed,
Thoughts you continuously dwell upon,
Those you pretend you have omitted.
Who have you looked down on with contempt?
Who have you envied, wishing to steal?
Who have you turned your back upon?
Who have you hated and secretly killed?
You say your acts are not near as evil,
But remember, I say all sin is sin.
What I know is all that really matters,
The intentions you’ve buried deep within.
I am so close, your very next breath,
How is it you do not feel me near?
Pour your heart out, cleanse your soul,
Let me brush away each bitter tear.
Take my hand once again and stay close,
Dwell upon all I have done for you,
Focus on me, the love that I am,
And all that I offer, pure and true.
I will not erase painful memories,
But I will remind you why you are here.
My forgiveness is not for you alone,
But also for those you know who are near.
Remember all that I have given you,
With freedom you can now choose to live.
This I have so freely given you,
All I ask is that you freely give.
