Maybe no one surprised you with a really big party. Maybe that one special person forgot to send a card. Maybe you were given to a different family on the day of your birth. Maybe you were forgotten and ignored on a day that was set aside with your name on it. Maybe a plan to celebrate got cancelled. Maybe the balloons deflated too soon. Or maybe the ice cream melted in the hot July sun. The disappointment that surrounds so many on their birthday can leave a heart bitter.
Everyday should be a special day, because of your birth, when you become aware of who you are in Christ, as found in 2 Corinthians 5:17(NIV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" We soon come to realize what is stated in Psalm 139:14(NIV) “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
The presents no longer matter because you are assured that God gave you the best gift, His Son. As we can read from John 3:16 (NIV):"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
The flavor of the cake is irrelevant because as it states in Psalm 34:8(NIV): “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him“.
Jeremiah 29:11(NIV) helps for you to realize that it does not take a party planner to make your day or your life special. “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Blow out the candles! Wear the goofy pointed hat! Eat ice cream for lunch!
Buy yourself a card! Do not wait on someone else to make the day perfect for you. The day is already perfect because it is the day God created you! Go ahead, celebrate, you know God will be at the party.
