It began with a very bad relationship. The man in question was an alcoholic and what would later turn out to be, an abuser. There were times during this period that I was so desperate and alone. I had, at times, bruised ribs, constricted throat, bruised limbs, but nothing compared to the bruise in my heart. Why, I would cry out to God, and I never received a reply. Only now, I know why. My father was shot during this time, leaving him crippled for life and I shaved death in a bus accident. All in one year. I left the relationship I was in and started a new one, with a beautiful and kind man and it seemed perfect and God-given. It was, perhaps God-given, until we broke one of the rules God made. Now I know why He created that commandment. Fornication gets you nowhere and gives you nothing but a broken heart. When we split up earlier this year, after being engaged for two years, I was quick to ask God, once again, why? This time, I received an answer. We can’t be called children of God and purport to be Christians, if we don’t behave like one. God gives us certain things in our life, not to test us, necessarily, but to bring us back to His arms. I lay on my bed, the desperate thud in my head and the sudden emptiness I felt, brought me to the realization that I had filled my life up with other things and made one person my whole life. I had forgotten about God.
Things will go wrong in your life when you are not constantly asking for God’s Hand upon your life. You need Him and He does things to remind you that you are going the wrong direction. My ex-fiance and I spoke about how we had faltered, how we had disregarded God’s commandments and both decided to start from scratch again. People often say, they ask for things and God is supposed to furnish us with it because we are Christian. True, God does say that we should ask and it will be given BUT, we forget that our lives have to be clean and we have to be living for God for this to happen. As encouragement, next time you look at how you appear to be suffering, ask God why, and really want to know the answer. Listen and wait for it, it will come. Be astute, the things of God are not always easy to understand. You will get your answer and God will give you better. He has already started with me and I know that things only go bad when I’m leaving the path.
Be at peace in the Lord, because He knows you, better than you know yourself.
