I have asked myself that question so many times. How sad that we, children of God, are so fearful. Why am I so afraid of deep water? Whether in a pool, river or the ocean I quake, shiver and have an anxiety attack. True, my younger brother slipped and went under water in a small creek and my mom frantically felt around until she pulled him to safety but yet that experience has bound me and still to this day I am fearful.

I know what it is to fear and I know that being afraid can bind us to a point that we are unable to act nor do anything but quake, shake and like a turtle hide within our protective shell. Fear is a very powerful emotion, it can cause us to be apprehensive or fearful of anyone, anything or any given situation, and here we stand unable to master fear.

We have a great high priest who died upon a cross in our place and he won the victory to overcome being fearful of life. I wrote a poem many years ago about Fear and the poem tells how we permit Satan, the father of lies, to deceive us into believing unable to do anything. Our heavenly Father tells us we are not to be afraid or fearful of anything upon this earth. We have already won the victory. Read Gods holy word and believe his promises. God does not nor will he ever lie. It is not possible. He is the God of truth. Following is my poem on fear. My prayer is that it will help you overcome all things and be victorious. You are the judge as to whether it is an accurate description or not.

"FEAR"

Lord, what is fear? The dictionary tells us that fear is an emotion.
It is when we feel dread of something or are afraid of a person or
any given situation.

Fear is such a stong emotion; it may paralyze us to the point we
cannot act nor do anything at all.
Our minds shuts down and we stand bound; it may not be real
chains, but at times, it seems as if it is.

Let us dissect the word fear one letter at a time.
"F" could stand for failure, frightfulness of anything or anyone.
"E" could stand for expectations of self or others.
"A" could stand for anticipation or not be able to take any actions.
"R" could stand for retaliation or rejection of loved ones or friends.

Lord, how sad it is when we permit fear to rule our lives.
If only we would let go and truly give our fears to You.
We run and hide from our fears and permit Satan to grab us by our throats
making us feel all is lost.

We are frail creatures and Satan messes with our minds.
He deceives us and we foolishly take our focus from You.
Father fear will rule our lives until we go to You.
It is through humility, prayer and trust that we are conquerors.

Your word says, "For I am the Lord your God, who takes hold of your
right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." "The Lord is my
light and salvation--whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of
my life--of whom shall I be afraid?"

Father, I thank You for loving us so very much.
Thank You for mercy, hope, understanding, forgiveness and grace.
We have overcome all obstacles and therein have Your peace that
surpasses all understanding. Amen.
