We choose our ‘first’. Be it upon ourselves, the world or the Lord. What one chooses determines his/her destiny. Our choice is vitally important. We choose to serve the Lord or the devil. If we choose a godly life, we choose life itself. If we choose the world, we choose the devil’s distraction. Either we are of God or of the devil. There is no two ways about it.
God created us. He created us for His glory and purpose. He takes delight in us when we strive to love and please Him. He wants our obedience. Our faith rests upon Him. We are totally dependent on Him because He created us. He created us for His pleasure. He wants to share His glorious presence with us. When we yield to God, He abides in us. His presence gives us the peace and the continuance that we need to do all that He has called us to do in this world. We are called for His purpose. He takes delight in us when we are dependent on Him. He wants us to look to Him for everything and put our complete trust in Him. We can count on Him for our peace for He is our peace. He rejoices over us when we claim Him to be our Abba Father.
Or we can choose ‘first’ the world. We can be utterly independent and do all that we want to do on our own effort. We can determine and decide what we want to do with our life. More often than not, we choose to sin against Him. We indulge in life-style that is completely abominable in His sight. We can choose to take vices as part of our life and work very hard to earn a lot of money, and have no time whatsoever for our creator. We decide and choose to do anything we want and there is no accountability to God.
Life in this way more often than not ended up in destruction and frustration. We destroy our lives through drugs and alcohol. We go to the casino to try and strike rich overnight only to be overcome with despair when it turns out to be the other way round. We look to the world for comfort only to see ourselves being betrayed and cheated. We give all that we can to the world and receive nothing back to ourselves except brokenness, pain, anguish and a torturous life-style. We look for love at all the wrong places. Who can understand and help us in our destruction? Only He. And He is God.
Why would we choose to live this kind of life-style? Because we know no better. We are suck up by the sins and pattern of this world. Remember this world belongs to Satan? If we live in His world, that’s where we ended ourselves broken and bruised. If we choose his world, we have his distinct stink as the enemy of God. We do all to please the devil then to live for our God. We are our greatest enemy.
Which ‘first’ then do we want to choose. God first, or the devil first? The way is provided for us to choose. The way has been triumph and conquered over. The price has been paid. The way has been paved. The road is narrow and the ways of those who choose to walk in this path are few. Wide is the way to destruction and many are falling into it. Which then ‘first’ should we choose? We determine the first road that we want to walk into and it means either life or death. There is no two ways about it.
Which way would you choose? The narrow or the wide road? To those who persevere, you shall be given the crown of life. That perseverance leads to the path of the golden road and the pearly gates with astonish huge mansion that only one can claim if he/she choose the path of life that leads only to the hand of our Heavenly Father. To only our God the Creator and the risen King Jesus, who paid it all.
