When people are filled with love and good cheer
However, it is late April and it’s plain to see
That all those good feelings have decided to flee
When the air was cold, and the nights were long
We gladly gave praise in prayer and in song
We heard the great story of when He was born
And saw all the goodness that appeared on that morn
A great gift was given to us that night
A gift of love, compassion and light
All the animals gladly gave up their straw
And watched over Him with wonder and awe
It’s a day of happiness, and a time of joy
For every man, woman, girl and boy
It’s also a day to relax and play
Just make sure you remember what happened that day
Now that all the holiday decor is put away
Rudeness and Ignorance return to the fray
Driving away all that goodness and light
And making us forget what’s wrong and what’s right
Some don’t remember what they sang, learned or read
And they’re only concerned about getting ahead
Spending the extra cash they have to invest
While helping the needy is given a rest
The Christmas Season gives us friendship and love
Now that it’s over, we just get a push and a shove
Peace on Earth are forgotten words too
Patience is thin, and good manners are few
I know life is hectic, fast and hard too
And we all need to make a dollar or two
But think back to when you had all that holiday spirit
It’s easy, just relax and you’ll surely hear it
For a special gift was given to all that day
And we should never try to put it away
Christmas Spirit doesn’t have to end in December
It should live on in June, July, August and September
