The world’s music is so loud.
It shouts at me trying to make me conform to it,
Lying and deceiving,
Wearying my soul and distressing my spirit;
“Turn it down” I whisper.
It continually reminds me of my failures
And approves of them,
Reminding me that my life doesn’t matter
And my situation will never change;
“Turn it down” I shout.
It attempts to capture me in its claws of disbelief
And tells me that it is not possible,
That the same thing happened to your parents
And their parents before them and now…
“Turn it down” I scream.
The music stops.
A different sort of music begins to play,
A melody that brings great joy to my heart,
I have heard it once before in my life
Every note blending together in perfect harmony;
My mind struggles to remind me of a song I once knew.
“With God nothing is impossible”, I hum to myself.
“If God is for me then who can be against me”, I joyfully sing.
“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us”, I sing dancing and praising God.
I shut my window
And close my bedroom door,
Raise my hands in praise
And begin to sing a new song.
