or so I’ve heard it said.
Frequently, with lessons
I wish I’d never had.
I teach at school and lately
Kids are prone to lie.
To say, “You never said that,”
When I know it’s what I said.
Prayer was taken out of schools.
By one woman protecting
Her son from hearing.
Of the Lord. In spite of her protection,
He, grew up a preacher anyway.
She, disappeared without a trace
Leaving her damage done,
Schools had changed, no longer
What they had been,
It just didn’t have a prayer.
They taught us what was once
Been “taken care of” in backrooms
Now was a “procedure”
Baby, now mere fetus,
Feet out first, head inside.
Brain destroyed, before fully born.
Bill passed by a wide margin
Partial birth abortion,
Briefly against the law,
Judges, struck down that law.
As denying freedom of choice.
Now teaching us our monuments,
Some there over 100 years
All that time illegal,
For acknowledging God
Statue of the ten commandments
From a statehouse, now in closet,
Judge who placed there
Losing his job.
A cross on a county seal
Must go, as an illegal sign.
You must separate the church
And state at all times.
Chaplains in the military told
How they can and cannot pray.
Even at funerals of Christians
Forbidden to utter Jesus’ name.
Everyone except the Christian
Can pray as they wish
Moslems address Alla
But we dare not use that name.
Unless in a curse of course.
“Jesus,” is welcome as an expletive.
Experience is the best teacher,
We experience what we choose.
Do we fellowship with others
Read the Bible, perhaps, pray.
Or do we simply waste our time
With other things,
Experience is your teacher.
Choose those experiences well.
