Adrift unaware, unconcerned the direction some flow.
Caught on a current, carried far not pursuant
Only riding to be said that they go.
Miles drift behind and the best that some find
Are the remnants of leftover dreams
Few speak of spinning, yet others beginnings
The darkest of falling and screams
Many rivers pour westward while some fully flood to the east
Still more surge out southward but those that flow north are found least
Proud down the trade tides with wind in their sails
A course toward fortune some set
What profit awaits them on shores laid in silver?
If time and their Maker aren’t met.
Soon wretched besotted, more under than over some go
Frantic and flailing to find a confluence
Desperate to ride the true flow
Many rivers pour westward while some fully flood to the east
Still more surge out southward but those that flow north are found least
For miles of frustration, hopes tattered and fading
Scant fruit from their efforts these find
No peace in their knowing
Nor hopes for their going
Mere ripples fast fading behind
Where least is the greatest and love is the standard
Sail souls full of thankful reprieve
Bound there together, delivered forever
From selfish intents that deceive
No point on the compass or star of the sky
Can guide one to this blessed place
In Christ’s sure forgiving and empowered living
Might seekers find their surest trace
Many rivers pour westward while some fully flood to the east
Still more surge out southward but those that flow north are found least
