Topic: Vision (08/03/06)
When I first saw him, he took my breath away. I rubbed my eyes. Was he real or a figment of my imagination? He was young with ebony hair and sun-tanned skin that looked strong and firm. His body sculpted to captivate my imagination. Yet, he seemed to possess an ageless wisdom. I thought “pinch me.”

He looked back at me with a smile that set off fireworks. Dare I take a step closer?
How could one person so encapsulate the word mystery? How could I have so hopelessly let go of my senses? I was thinking relationship thoughts even though I had long ago convinced myself that self-reliance was the life for me.

He looked down and away and invited me into a conversation. My heart raced and the palms of my hands grew sweaty and cold at the same time. He leaned over as the words formed a whisper and pressed through my lips. His eyes intent as though he knew what was in my mind. I could not hold the gaze it was too penetrating. My heart pounded and I stood frozen, faint.

“I have known you for a long time”, he said. I looked up and melted under his gaze. How could that be? This is the first time I have ever seen you. I have been around and as he spoke, calm enveloped me. The world around me ceased. My only concern was what he was thinking and feeling.

I knew for the first time in my life I had no clue about love. His breath seemed to fill me with life.

“Where are you?” I screamed as I felt abandoned. He had disappeared without a trace.

His promise: “You will find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

I was mildly disturbed by the first paragraph, which seems to make Jesus into a romantic fantasy-type hunk...but I think you were going for making a contrast between romantic love and Christ's eternal love. Am I right? I'll have to think about this one for a bit.

Hmmm...at first I thought that This man would be Satan. The whole lover her, use her, and leave routine. I agree with Jan. I'm not sure that's how I would portray Jesus.
