Every week I go to the grocery store and buy fruit to fill up my fruit bowl. I take pieces of fruit with me to work to fuel me through my day and keep me from snacking on junk food. What I long for is to be abundant in the fruit of the spirit. I want to be free of all of the junk inside me, to fill up my bowl with fruit. Am I getting there? In comparison to how I was a few months ago, maybe…but by God’s standards I am not even any closer.
It’s a sad thought that many struggle all their lives for material abundance, like eating empty calories that never satisfy. My heart overflows with joy when I realize what a gift I have been given through Jesus Christ. I know I have a long road ahead, but I am not alone. I am focused on true abundance now, and pray to see more of the spiritual fruits I long for every day.
