“but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)
God promises you the fulfillment you seek. He has been with you always. How else do you suppose you’ve made it this far? God is there with you in your pain. He knows all your “terrible secrets”. He sees you everywhere, in all situations, in every moment of weakness.
“You have neither heard nor understood; from of old your ear has not been open. Well do I know how treacherous you are; you were called a rebel from birth.” (Isaiah 48:8)
Ask Jesus to enter your heart. Surrender your will to Him and lay all of your cards on the table. He can take it. He is just waiting to relieve you from this terrible burden, bearing down on your bruised and battered body.
Pray, surrender and begin to forgive. Forgive us, your family, for all of our shortcomings. Forgive all of the people in your life along the way to whom you gave a piece of yourself, and they never gave it back. Finally, forgive yourself – for once and for good; forgive yourself and be tormented no more. God forgives your every sin! The only thing that is required of you is to ask for His help.
“Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. The troubles of my heart have multiplied; free me from my anguish. Look upon my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins” (Psalm 25:16-18)
Start attending those meetings you’ve been avoiding so that you will have support in your efforts to fight those “demons”. Pay attention to the part about “turning to a Higher Power”.
“My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare.”(Psalm 25:15)
Find a church home and participate in a way that makes you feel that you are doing God’s work. Begin taking a bible study class to help you to better understand what God is saying to you, personally. Clear your mind, open your heart and listen for Him. He is speaking to you.
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another will all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:15-17)
