According to John 14:27, Jesus doesn’t want His followers to be scared or anxious about their lives. The verse says: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” It’s sometimes hard to take Jesus’ words to heart. Sometimes, my faith is very weak. In these times, it is much easier for me to become anxious or afraid. When faith comes easily to me, I am less likely to be plagued with those anxious thoughts.
I’ve found that the only way I can focus on Jesus instead of my problems or fear is to ask God for help. Sometimes, He’ll remind me of a verse in the Bible that will comfort me and bring me peace. Other times, I will spend hours talking to God about these problems. This does not help me get to sleep any easier. It does give me peace of mind though, because I know that God is listening and will help me with my problems.
Next time you experience a time when you cannot sleep, ask God to give you peace of mind and heart. I’ve found that if we ask for peace, God is more than happy to give it to us. Do not forget that God is in control, and that He truly cares about you and your problems.
God Bless!
