Mmmm! Yeah!
Human joy can be fickle and thin!
Let me see.
My son, with his teenager whims,
Oh the times he gets under my skin!
The bill that is not accounted for,
Drops silently, through the ‘box’ at my door.
I open it up and the happiness sinks
Surely, no more!
But circumstance winks!
Once again, right on the button
Disaster sits at my feet.
The car breaks down!
And the ‘joy bubble’ bursts,
I’m close to admitting defeat.
For my human joy has a sell by date
There’s only so much that one can take!
Which is why I’m so grateful
That during my day
I can call on My Father:
Draw near, and just pray.
My human joy may not last too long
But there’s something much deeper that wills me on
It God’s presence!
And in it, I find that His joy fills my heart
He refreshes, restores and helps me restart!………
Hello! A new day today!
And what does it have in store?
Well, enough to steal my human joy
But my Father has given me MORE!
