Topic: Prosperity (05/11/06)
There once was a church named ‘Prosperity’
They had more than enough for any need.
When it came time to share
They just put on an air,
And their indifference was not short of apathy.

The Compassionate church sat across town
In a neighborhood ragged and run-down.
Their mission to save
Was a struggle each day,
But their trust in God’s faithfulness was quite sound.

Severe was sudden economy turn
That left the Prosperity church members burned.
They just couldn’t cope
And many lost hope
Cause depending on God was what they’d never learned.

While Prosperity church was distressing
Compassionate church had a blessing.
With abundance at last
They shared it as fast,
Their thankfulness to God they were confessing.

Then Prosperity church returned to heath
No longer filled with the pride of wealth.
The members didn’t have much
But happily shared even lunch,
And the faith and the joy was widely felt!

Cute poem, with a catchy rhythm that works a lot of the time. It's always wroth reading a poem aloud to see if there's anywhere your tongue stumbles. Keep writing.

How cool--I wrote a piece with multiple limericks once, too! It's a fun form to write in, isn't it? Great message, almost Revelation-like in its appraisal of two very different churches. Be sure to scan for rhythm, which should be nearly perfect in a "defined" form like the limerick. I enjoyed this.

I really liked the limerick format! It seems to fit with a story-telling type of poem. There were some really fun phrases in there, too. "When it came time to share
