While serving notice in a company before joining another, Bob was suddenly taken ill and hospitalized due to appendicitis. After his surgery, Bob was given three weeks rest, at which time Bob realizes the fragility of life, so he sought God and found peace. That was when his perspectives of life began to change.
For the next five months, Bob was working in the new company. Before his term of probation was up, his employer informed him that he is no longer needed because of changes in the company's business plan. Bob then began to look for jobs, hoping to get back his former pay but failed as a result of the global economic downturn. Undeterred, he diligently continues to work hard at finding jobs while furthering his education using his savings. After three years however he was on the verge of giving up because he knew he has little chance to compete with the younger generation. He started working freelance which did not pay well and was too irregular to provide a decent living. With his confidence shattered, Bob is now willing to take on any task however demeaning just to keep alive, even for a very small price.
The story of 'Bob' is adapted from a true story. Bob has spent half his working life as an unwilling employee who refuses to stick to a job because he hopes to accumulate more riches to live a comfortable life. Moving to greener pasture is not a crime, but where God has placed us, it is our responsibility to find out why in order to know how we can serve Christ.
Bob was however unwilling, so he was constantly seeking, unsatisfied with almost everything. Not until he was taken ill did he find contentment in the frailty of life. It was then the beginning of God's molding process in Bob's life. The Potter's molding however is not yet complete and Bob has to go through another test. When he lost his job, he did not despair because he has the assurance of God. He grew stronger as he seeks new avenue to survive, and even though he found none for the three years of waiting, he was contented and assured that God will provide in His perfect time.
Today, Bob is a new person because he is willing to let God take him wherever He leads. He has just been offered a new job with a cut of almost half his former salary, but he is contented and willing to do the will of God.
