In the retail world, someone will develop a new concept or product that had never been tried before. Yet often, before it has even had the chance to hit the market, a host of others will come along thinking of ways to improve upon the original, making their own "new and improved" versions to compete with the original.
Now, as we study this universe in which we live,we find that it is the product of a Creator. There is no ay that a person can logically believe that everything that is became that way through chance and accident. "Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them [creation]; for God hath showed it untothem. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, eve his eternal power and godhead; so that they are without excuse" (Romans 1:19-20). The purpose and order we find in the universe is evidence of a Creator who is purposeful an orderly. Creation serves as a pattern of the original, of God.
God is original., the first, existence. Before there was anything ele, there was God. I have to confess that my mind cannot comprehend that. I cannot comprehend or visualize nothingness. I can only comprehend "somethingness."
Yet, out of this nothingness, God, the First Cause of the universe, created everything. Again, our minds can only grasp somethig created out of existing material, as a carpenter building a house, or an artist sculpting a statue. To be able to understand how the material itself was created, out of which the object is fashioned, if far beyond the reach of my mortal brain confined to notions of time, space, and matter.
Yet, whether we accept it or not, the teaching of the Bible is so very simple: "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." God is the First Cause of everything. And if really want to understand this universe we live in, we must first of all consider the One who made it. I often advise couples getting married that, if they want to know what their potential partner is going to be like, look at their parents. And,in much the same way, if we want to understand this physical universe, we must begin by looking at the Creator.
Yet we can get even more personal than this. If we want to understand our lives, why we are in this world, what we are supposed to be doing, we need only look to the one who made us. The
Psalmist writes, "I will praise thee ; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well" (Psalm 139:14)
Without fail, each year at least one of my children's Christmas presents would require assembling. Now, there are two ways that I would go about this. First, I would assume that I knew what I was doing, would ignore the instructions, and try to put it together the way I thought it should go. Almost without fail, I would find pieces that should have fit not liking each other, and numerous other parts I could find not use or place for at all. Then, having swallowed my pride and faced defeat, I would pick up and read the instructions, and follow the guide the builders devisd to put it together. When I did so, everything fit into place just as it was supposed to.
God, the Creator of heaven and earth, the First Cause of creation, had given to us a guidebook, an instruction manual, on how to live in this world. We call it the Bible. As we read our Bible, we find that gives us detailed insgtructions as to how to put our lives together. When we follow its instructions, we find the pieces of our lives fitting, all the pieces coming together as a whole. How much stress could be removed from our lives if only we would consult the Bible first, and not try to figure it out by ourselves.
Creation is filled with indications of the nature of the Creator. Mayour lives also be filled with the qualities of He who made us.
