This poem is a Memorial to my brother
Stevie who passed away last June. This
is his testimony.
I wish I could go back and change my
past.
These forty years have gone by so fast.
It's the Twenty Sixth of April, my
birthday.
Never envisioned life, ending this way.
I should be celebrating the day of my
birth.
Should be rejoicing on the day I came
to earth.
Instead I lay in this hospital bed.
With all the doctors giving me up for
dead.
Can't breath my feeble body weak, and
void of might.
Doctors don't expect me to make it thru
the night.
I'm surrounded by family, and friends
looking down and sad.
Can't believe my life, turned out this
bad.
Birthday cards and balloons fill my
room.
But the air is filled with doom and
gloom.
By an intravenous tube, is how I'm
being fed.
Laying here with thoughts of a wasted
life, filling my head.
No chance for a piece of birthday cake.
Doomed by bad choices, and impeded by
this trach.
As a Pastors son, from a early age I
knew your way.
But my feet did slip, and from you I
did stray.
I let the enemy confuse me, and cloud
my view.
Let him make me take my eyes off you.
Allowed him to blind me, so I couldn't
see.
Let him turn me into something I didn't
want to be.
Satan lured and enticed me, with woman
and drugs.
Made me stop giving you Dear Lord, your
due praise and love.
Eyes once closed are open, and I have you in view.
As I lay here, I long for an opportunity, to make it back to you.
Lord I pray before the blood in my veins, run cold.
That you come in, and restore my soul.
Dear Lord bless me with your peace and
inner strength.
Forgive me as I lay here before you and
repent.
For my past transgressions, I feel
guilty and ashame.
Bless me to go down in water, in your
Holy Name.
Lord I know I don't deserve your mercy
and grace.
But grace me more time in the race.
Please Dear Lord, honor my prayers and
bless.
Give me peace and inner strength, until
you call me home to rest.
God can mold you into pure gold.
And as of this moment you can't say,
you haven't been told. Amen.
