Topic: Lock (03/06/06)
"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it (are) the issues of life"
Proverbs 4:23

My heart was like uncharted territory. Its depths were not known and whoever dare navigate this wilderness best proceed with great caution. I'm sure that's the unintended message I sent out as I stood silently with my head down and arms crossed. But there was one who dared cross my self imposed threshold of isolation.
"Are you okay? You look tired."
Little did I know that that those first kind words of compassion would be the first of many keys to unlock my heart.
I had surely and slowly padlocked my dreams and emotions away where no one could corrupt or damage them. Just as surely and slowly, this godly friend showed how to unlock them and set them free to a place where God could nurture and even grow them. Sure, our heart is fragile and is to be protected and cleansed from sin. But don't lock it up so tight that God and love can't get in.
This friend, my best friend, and I celebrated ten years of marriage this year. He still holds every key to my heart. Here's to many more years of growing dreams and love.
