We may not have realized the various entrances we’ve enter in upon our place of destination. Whether the supermarket, mall, our schools, churches and places of employment, we have enter these facilities on a daily basis. Most of these places upon entering have a sensor to sense that we’re approaching the building or a floor mat to step on that will automatically allow the doors to open welcoming us into the facility. Of course most buildings are not savvy to utilized advance technology which leaves us the use of our hands to pull, push or use the revolving doors to gain entrance.

Gaining access has never become a problem with the exception of accidentally being locked out from your car or house. Realizing that you don’t have a spare key for the original is left inside your vehicle or at home, the alternative to either call the locksmith or AAA to assist you in your quest to obtain entrance to your property. You feel the relief to finally gain access to your home or car, just when realization sets in to pay for the service rendered.

Think about gaining access to every public building makes me think about our heavenly Father who desires for us to enter into his presence by communing with him. I feel we do more “exiting” than “entering” and staying in his presence. Although we live in a post 9/11 world with security on demand, there are some public facilities that will allow you to enter and exit freely while other buildings demand permission to gain access. How much more can we come freely to Jesus as the scripture said, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16). In this troublesome world with its dilemma of poverty, racial, economic and social injustice, let’s look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith and the only person we can enter into his rest.

Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
