Topic: Start (01/16/06)
I have started out so many times, on so many things in my life that I am now standing here looking at how to start finishing up what I have already started.

I started to improve my marriage… but ended up in a divorce.
I started to raise children …but they grew up before I could finish.
I started a career as a para medic…but injured my knee and had to retire.
I started a career as a real estate agent…but my conscience took over, and sales went drastically down.
I started to manage apartment rentals…but found myself getting to cynical so retirement was in order.
I started to be a grandmother…but ended up adopting my grandchildren.
I started once again raising children…still not finished with that one.
I started to develop my faith…and everything changed.

I finally understand that the biggest need I have is to surrender my life to Him. That is the start that will really begin my life.

Thinking that I have control is a figment of my imagination, and a fruitless endeavor. I tried long enough to control things without success, and finally took the step that would, in the end grant me true life.

To give your life to the Lord and letting Him have authority over your life is the only way that you can have any direction on how you really live. To live for Him, to walk with Him, is a peace that will grant you the abundant life that He wants for you.

At last a real starting place.

For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light Psalms 36:9

If you re-visit this piece, consider putting your 5th paragraph in 1st person rather than 2nd person, since you're writing about the lessons that you have learned. I really found this quite powerful, especially with the effective use of repetition in the 2nd paragraph.
