My notes to the King: The situation here is grave. People are attached to this material world. It is crazy in my opinion. They have lovely homes that are a haven for them, providing everything that they need for a comfortable life. As soon as they are settled, they begin looking for larger, more expensive homes. Does that make them happy? No, they do this two, three, or more times. More, more, more! They must borrow money to support their greed. They are consumed with more to their own ruin. When the unexpected occurs, such as loss of an income or a serious illness, they are in trouble. What they do next is beyond sanity. They borrow more money! Upside down in their homes, their cars, indeed in all of their possessions, they lose all. Everything that they have is taken away by those who so willingly lent them the money to get into this mess in the first place. Then, what do they do? They file bankruptcy and do not pay back what they owe. The very ones who trusted them to suffer because of this. If that is not enough, they start the same process again!
I am baffled by this behavior. These people can’t seem to see that their enslavement grows deeper with each step that they take. They are borrowers who are servants to their lenders.
My King, why do they do this? They do not know that there is no need for them to be trapped like this. As I offer them the opportunity to come home with me, to our Kingdom where all of their deepest desires are met, they do not even hear me! Their pursuit of more, more, more, deafens them to my cry. In attempting to gain the whole world they are losing their souls. Still, I will continue to tell them about Your Kingdom of peace, love, and joy, hoping that perhaps someone will hear me.

"The very ones who trusted them to suffer because of this."
Maybe I am just not reading it correctly.
Yes, we can't believe the lie, "We deserve it."
Nicely written.
