What a relief. Now I won’t have to go to work without it and wait until Hubby comes home so he can call me, so I can find my phone. Why do I do this every day? I am always looking for the thing. Hubby says, “Put it in your pocket.” But then if I bend over it either acts as a splint or it pops right out of my dinky pockets. Sometimes I would like to throw it away or maybe tie it to my person. You know, like the former days when the phone was attached by a long, curly cord to the box that was hung on the wall or that sat on a counter or desk. That one I never lost!
Now with modern technology and no more stationary phones, I am always looking for the thing. I wouldn't want to be without it. I wouldn't want my family, friends, work places, etc. to be without one. But there sure are days when I feel like it is a major intrusion in my life. I have no privacy. It is always whistling for a text that has come in or a call that I just missed because I had it in “vibrate” mode while I was in church or at a meeting and forgot to change it back to “ring” mode. Ugh!
I am finally able to take a decent picture with the thing, once in a while at least. But let a grandchild, age 4 to teen, get a hold of it, and they make it do things I had no idea were even possible. Boy, does that make me feel old. How do they know all that stuff?
Occasionally I have to take it into the store where I bought it because no grandchildren are around, and I have managed to really mess it up . . . like the time and day are off, it’s in military time and the only setting I find about time doesn't show me how to switch back to normal time. Oh, there are many other catastrophes that send me to the shop where I am greeted by someone who looks to be all of nine years old and who promptly runs her fingers around on my phone and says, “There. That should fix it!” How did she do that?
Maybe I will live long enough to figure the thing out. But just when I do figure something out, there is no longer service for that old thing when I have to renew the contract, and I have to start over with a new, updated, multi-app one that can potentially do everything but get me dressed every morning. Oh well. They say learning new things is good for the brain. So why does my brain balk at the opportunity. That, my friend, is a whole other story.

I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the smoothness of its flow and the oozing of emotions that also came cascading out.
It might have been a quick write but you took time to check it over nicely.
I'm so behind on the technology, too. Your piece was so relateable.
