Here are some examples of how you know it is cold when…
1. You go outside and your coat goes stiff instantly.
2. standing outside for more than a few minutes and your butt cheeks go numb.
3. You need to plug in the block heater in your car for the night to keep your oil from freezing, only to go outside to start it in the morning and it is dead!
4. You get into your car and your seat won’t press in where you sit because it is frozen SOLID.
5. Its so cold outside, the air crystalizes.
6. The school busses cancel because it is -38 below and -50 with the wind chill factor. what is a wind chill factor? Its colder if there is wind. This makes being cold; very, very cold.
7. You come in from the outside to a nice warm house and your glasses turn to frost.
8. You must run your vehicle for 20 minutes before it will move out of your driveway.
9. Long johns become part of your daily wardrobe.
10. If you pass gas outside, you see steam Lol!
11. You never leave the house without a hat and mitts.
12. There is so much frost on the windows of your vehicles, you spend 15 minutes scraping your windows off enough to see out of them.
13. Every time there is a school Christmas concert it is going to be -40 below outside. Its a given.
14. You own a scarf made of wool to wind around your kids faces and necks to keep the frostbite under control.
15. The dog goes outside to pee and tip toes from one foot to another to keep from freezing there.
16. You go to the grocery store and find everyone’s car is still running in the parking lot, so when they get back into their cars they don’t sit there shaking and freezing to get their keys back into the ignition.
17. You see frost on top of frost on everything outside.
18. Frost forms on your eye lashes and the drip from your nose freezes there.
19. You are thankful for indoor plumbing.
20. The news anchor tells you on the evening news, it is colder in Winnipeg, Manitoba than it is on Mars.
Every winter Canadians dread the cold. Even though it can get very cold
sometimes it doesn’t slow them down too much. They carry on with their daily
routines and enjoy the winter. They adapt to the cold and learn to accept their
chilling fate as they head out the door.
We can learn from this as a body of believers. Even though we dread what lies
ahead at times we know our faithful Father is looking out for us. We can adapt to
any situation with his help.
Hebrews 13:20-21 NIV. Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the
eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd
of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in
us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and
ever. Amen.
